§ 25. Mr. Ralph HowellTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what measures the Government have implemented since 1983 to assist working people on low incomes.
§ Mr. JackTax and national insurance contribution changes have ensured that working people keep more of their own pay. The reformed benefit system has resulted in a huge reduction in the number of working people who would be better off on benefit, and people no longer find themselves worse off as a result of increasing their earnings.
