To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will give a breakdown by recipient organisation of funds made available during the current financial year to organisations specifically concerned with AIDS education; and if he will indicate in each case the purpose for which those funds are intended.

The Department of Health makes funds available to a range of organisations in both the statutory and voluntary sectors for services connected with AIDS education, care and support.

In 1990–91 £8.5 million was allocated to the Health Education Authority for the development of the national AIDS public education campaign and a further £1.5 million was allocated to fund the running costs of the national AIDS helpline.

In addition, health authorities have been asked to ensure that a substantial part of the earmarked AIDS allocation which totalled £129.5 million in 1990–91, is devoted to the development of local HIV prevention work.

So far as the voluntary sector is concerned, in 1990–91 £1.8 million was provided to AIDS services organisations as follows:
