To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will order the closure of the London office of the Technology and Development Group in light of the Iraqi Government's use of it for arms purchases.

The Government have no statutory power to order the closure of an office of a company or organisation. However, all companies established in the United Kingdom are required to comply with United Kingdom legislation, including the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1989 relating to the export of military goods and the orders giving effect to United Nations Security Council resolution 661.
