HC Deb 31 October 1990 vol 178 cc519-20W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what assessment was made of the impact on the potential generation of electricity from renewable sources by independent generator prior to the decision to decouple the nuclear and renewable elements of the non-fossil fuel obligations.

Mr. Baldry

As my right hon. Friend announced to the House on 12 February,Official Report, column 29, he decided to decouple renewables from the initial order setting a non-fossil fuel obligation so as to enable the large response from renewables operators to be assessed fairly and a full contribution obtained.
