Her Majesty's Government:
What further initiatives they have in mind to reduce the debt burden of poorer countries.

§ The Minister of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Lord Hesketh)
The Chancellor recently proposed at the Commonwealth Finance Ministers meeting in Trinidad a package of measures to reduce substantially the debt burden of the poorest countries. The Government is currently engaged in discussions aimed at persuading other creditor countries to support these proposals.
