HC Deb 31 October 1990 vol 178 c613W
123. Ms. Mowlam

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what future steps he will be taking to ensure that the British insurance industry is not put at a competitive disadvantage after 1992.

Mr. Redwood

The United Kingdom supports the Commission's proposals for the single insurance passport. The removal of trade barriers after 1992 will provide new opportunities for the United Kingdom industry, and is good news for the consumer. Our negotiations are designed to ensure fair access for our companies.
