§ Mr. Garel-JonesI represented the United Kingdom at the meeting on the preparation of the intergovernmental conference on political union which was held on 23 October in Strasbourg. The European Parliament, Commission and member states set out their respective views on possible institutional reforms. No conclusions were drawn, but it was agreed to hold a further exchange of views at a later date.
