HC Deb 31 October 1990 vol 178 c616W
Mr. John Garrett

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps he is taking to require companies to inform their shareholders of their record on environmental pollution.

Mr. Redwood

The Government have imposed no requirements on companies to inform their shareholders of these matters. Companies are themselves best placed to decide, in the light of their individual circumstances, whether such information is likely to be of interest to their members. Interested members may in any case put questions on this subject at the annual general meeting.
