§ Mr. FreemanMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport and I met the chairman of British Rail on 15 October when we discussed a variety of railway issues. The Department expects to conclude its review of section 8 grants for freight transfer from road to rail shortly and British Rail will also shortly conclude its review of rail freight distribution operations and plans.
