§ Sir Wyn RobertsThe Secretary of State has statutory responsibility for the construction and maintenance of motorway and trunk roads in Wales. The Welsh Office highways directorate which carries out these functions has a staff complement of 172.5. With minor exceptions statutory responsibility for matters relating to public transport rests with the Secretary of State for Transport.
