§ 54. Mr. McWilliamTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received about the supply of books in schools.
§ Mr. FallonMy right hon. Friend has received representations from educational publishers and from some schools and LEAs about the supply of books, including school books, to support the introduction of the national curriculum. In response to these representations, my right hon. Friend has announced a new activity within the grants for education support and training programme for 1991–92 which will support £15 million expenditure on books for the national curriculum. The representations are also being taken into account in considering the 1991–92 local authority grant settlement.
