Sir Russell Johnston

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of those serving prison sentences of more than two years were convicted of crimes not involving violence or child molestation.

Information is not available in the form requested. Provisional figures for receptions to Scottish prisons in 1989 indicate that the proportion of those received with sentences of more than two years who were convicted of crimes not involving violence or child molestation was 36 per cent.
