HC Deb 23 October 1990 vol 178 c123W
Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what investigations have taken place of malpractice by civil servants dealing with immigration cases over the last 12 months; and what is the nature of any proceedings that have resulted from the investigations.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Officers of the Metropolitan police are investigating possible criminal offences by individuals involved in immigration cases, and one former employee of the immigration and nationality department has been charged with conspiracy to contravene the Immigration Act 1971. Other cases of malpractice not involving criminal acts have been dealt with under the appropriate civil service disciplinary code.
