Mr. Rowlands

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what average grade has been achieved by pupils sitting GCSE in recent years in each of the core and foundation subjects established by the Education Act.

The table shows, for 15-year-old pupils in England in 1988–89, the percentage of those attempting each national curriculum subject who gain a grade A-C or D-G. The only year for which information is available in this form is 1988–89.
