HC Deb 23 October 1990 vol 178 c169W
Mr. David Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the monetary value in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990 of(a) a full-time further education bursary and (b) a part-time further education bursary; and if he will make a statement explaining the reasons for any variations in value for each year.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The Education Authority Bursaries (Scotland) Regulations 1988 prescribe the conditions subject to which bursaries may be provided by education authorities. Authorities have discretion whether or not to offer bursaries to individuals resident in their areas and to regulate the value of bursaries. Bursary awards may vary according to the particular circumstances of the individual and to the level of support which the education authority is prepared to provide. Information on monetary values of bursary awards is not available centrally.
