HC Deb 23 October 1990 vol 178 c105W
Dr. Moonie

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much industrial and provident societies have paid in corporation tax for each year since 1982.

Mr. Maude

The amounts of corporation tax paid by industrial and provident societies during financial years 1986–87 to 1989–90 are shown in the table. Figures for earlier years are not readily available and could be prepared only at disproportionate cost. Figures for the most recent years are now published in Inland Revenue statistics.

Financial year Amount of corporation tax (£ million)
1986–87 590
1987–88 624
1988–89 821
1989–90 651
