HC Deb 23 October 1990 vol 178 c135W
Mr. Moate

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the latest position in his negotiations with the French Government to secure compensation for losses suffered by British interests as a result of actions by French citizens in the lamb war; and if he will describe the detailed compensation proposals and the principles on which the compensation is to be based.

Mr. Curry

The French Government have confirmed that compensation for losses arising as a direct result of French producer action will be forthcoming, as was the case for similar incidents in 1986. The Department stands ready to assist traders in preparing individual claims for submission to the French Government.
