§ Mr. ChopeAt present specifications for reinstatements following utility street works are a matter for agreement between highway authorities and utilities. The Department recognises the unsatisfactory nature of much reinstatement work, and has been working with highway authorities and utilities on the production of a code of practice to establish a national specification and performance standards for reinstatements. These standards will be prescribed under the legislation it is proposed to introduce to reform the Public Utilities Street Works Act 1950.
