To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received recently about the electrification of railways in the Bradford area.

Mr. McLoughlin

The West Yorkshire passenger transport executive has proposed the electrification of the railways between Leeds and Bradford Forster square and on to Shipley, Ilkley, Keighley and Skipton. We are considering this project for credit approvals.
