HC Deb 22 October 1990 vol 178 c72W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations were received by his Department on the British Ports Federation consultation document proposing a flat rate light dues charge for pleasure craft; and when he expects to announce a decision on the proposals.

Mr. McLoughlin

About 90 representations have been made by bodies and individuals, generally opposing registration of pleasure craft for light dues purposes. Over 40 hon. Members have written on behalf of sailing clubs and yachtsmen in their constituencies. My right hon. Friend is still considering the matter.
