HC Deb 22 October 1990 vol 178 cc77-8W
Mr. Allen McKay

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if it is his intention to trawl the attendance allowance computer programme to inform recipients and carers of its existence.

Mr. Scott

I am unable to answer the question as its meaning is not clear. If the hon. Member would care to write to me, I will give a full reply.

Ms. Short

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many appeals to the social security commissioners were lodged in the last year for which statistics are available concerning attendance allowance; what proportion of all attendance allowance claims in that year they represented; and how many such appeals resulted in the case being remitted to the Attendance Allowance Board for reconsideration.

The Attorney-General

I have been asked to reply. The information is not readily available and I shall reply as soon as possible.
