§ Sir Trevor SkeetTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information he has on(a) the productive capacity of the oilfields in (i) Kuwait and (ii) Iraq and (b) the proven reserves of petroleum and natural gas in both Iraq and Kuwait.
§ Mr. WaldegraveCrude oil production capacities are estimated to be as follows: Kuwait 2.3 million barrels a day; Iraq 3.5 million barrels a day. Proven reserves of oil as at 31 December 1989 were as follows: Kuwait 94,500 million barrels; Iraq 100,000 million barrels. Proven reserves of natural gas as at 31 December 1989 were as follows: Kuwait 1.4 trillion (million million) cubic metres; Iraq 2.7 trillion cubic metres.
