To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what environmental guidelines exist for the Commonwealth Development Corporation in deciding which projects to support.

The CDC operates in accordance with environmental policies and procedures which, among other things, require it to:

  1. a. encourage the efficient and sustainable use of environmental resources;
  2. b. seek investment opportunities where sound economic development is coupled with the protection and improvement of environmental resources; and
  3. c. seek ways of safeguarding the welfare of local communities affected by the development projects.
