How many juveniles detained under Section 53 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 who are currently under 17 are (i) in prison department establishments; (ii) in accommodation within the child care system and (iii) in other accommodation.
Earl FerrersOn 30th September 1990, 62 persons aged under 17 were detained under Section 53 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 in Prison Service establishments in England and Wales. On the same date a further 73 were detained in child care establishments and youth treatment centres. The number of such detainees held in other accommodation is not recorded centrally.
