To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many teaching positions are currently filled by supply teachers in(a) the primary sector and (b) the secondary sector in Wales according to each local education authority area; and how many positions have been filled by supply teachers in each of the last five years.

The numbers of teachers employed in maintained primary and secondary schools to provide temporary cover for absent teachers on an occasional or short-notice basis are shown in the tables:
primary sector and (b) the secondary sector in the last year for which figures are available and in each year since 1979 at constant prices.
