§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyThe number of reported cases of child abuse is not collected centrally. Information is collected centrally about the number of children and young persons on child protection registers and the number of names added to the register. This is published in "Children and Young Persons on Child Protection Registers for the year ending 31 March" and is available in the Library. Data for the year ended 31 March 1990 are provisional. Data for the year ended 31 March 1988 represent the results of a pilot survey.
