§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe provision whereby private sector landlords are able to acqure a title to public sector housing stock are contained primarily in part III of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988.
Local authorities also have a general power of disposal in section 12 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 and Scottish Homes have a similar power in section 2(2)(h) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988.
New town development corporations have a general power of disposal under section 3(2) as read with sections 18–18C of the New Towns (Scotland) Act 1968.
