§ Mrs. Gillian ShephardThe objective of the survey was to identify the range of costs of caring for people with different types and levels of dependency in homes of varying size and staff-resident ratios in different parts of Great Britain. All the homes in the survey would be subject to registration and inspection by the relevant statutory authority to ensure appropriate standards under legislation made by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health.
