§ Dr. MawhinneyThe Government have no plans at present to restore responsibility for planning decisions to district councils. However, we remain ready to consider any proposals for transferring political power, authority and responsibility to locally elected representatives in Northern Ireland on a basis which would be likely to prove widely acceptable.
