§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryParagraph 56 of the UK guidance note on the ministerial declaration of the third North sea conference, a copy of which is in the Library, sets out the Government's commitment to end sewage sludge dumping at sea by the end of 1998 and how this will be addressed.
A copy of this note has been sent to Ministers of the other North sea states. The third North sea conference also agreed to invite the Paris Commission to undertake,
255Wa review of alternative methods of handling and disposal of sewage sludge aiming at developing clean and low waste technology".The Paris Commission has agreed to undertake this and is expected to report by 1992.
