HC Deb 01 November 1990 vol 178 c699W
Mr. Beggs

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list all the statements made over the past 10 years by the conference on security and co-operation in Europe about inviolability of frontiers and territorial integrity of states; and what provisions with regard to territorial claims are contained in(a) the charter of the United Nations and (b) the treaty of Rome.

Mr. Hurd

The concluding documents of both the 1980–83 Madrid and the 1986–89 Vienna CSCE follow-up meetings reaffirmed participants' determination to respect and put into practice all 10 principles from the Helsinki final act, which includes statements on the inviolability of frontiers and territorial integrity of states. Neither the charter of the United Nations nor the treaty of Rome contains specific provisions with regard to territorial claims between member states.
