§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Italian Foreign Minister suggested in July 1990 that 1 per cent, of GDP be spent on economic assistance, with one quarter of it going to eastern Europe, one quarter to the Mediterranean countries and one half to the developing countries in general. He has not pursued the idea further with the British Government.
