HC Deb 01 November 1990 vol 178 cc752-3W
Ms. Short

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give details of the back-to-work grant being piloted by his Department and outline what other forms of assistance are available to unemployed people who are just about to start work; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jackson

The Department of Employment is not piloting a back-to-work grant. Unemployed people can take advantage of the advice and help available from employment service staff. They can give information on the benefits available to people in work. These include family credit, child benefit, housing benefit and community charge benefit.
