To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what discussions he has had with the United States Department of Defense in respect of how many of the 450 tactical (SRAM-T) missiles due to be deployed in Europe from 1995 will be based in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

While we have always made clear our support for retaining an up-to-date and effective United States nuclear presence in Europe, the question of the detailed deployment of US SRAM-T missiles has not yet arisen.
