To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give details of the annual pay rates for(a) a Royal Ulster Constabulary constable after two years' service and (b) a Royal Ulster Constabulary reserve constable after two years' service.

Mr. Cope

The annual rate of pay for a constable with two years' service in both the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the full-time reserve is £12,462. A constable in the Royal Ulster Constabulary part-time reserve is paid on an hourly basis according to the hours of duty actually performed.
