§ Mr. Simon Hughes
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will outline his policy in respect of the development and release of genetically modified organisms.

§ Mr. Neubert
It is not the Department's policy to release to the atmosphere any genetically modified organisms which may be developed in relation to research which underpins chemical and biological defence.

§ Mr. Simon Hughes
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether any releases of genetically modified organisms have taken place from establishments under his Department's control.
