Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will list by year for the last 10 years and by(a) sex and (b) ethnic group the number of children committed under section 53; and if he will make a statement.

(2) if he will list by year for the last 12 months for which he has figures and by (a) sex and (b) ethnic origin, the offences committed by children detained under section 53.
