HL Deb 22 May 1990 vol 519 c892WA
Viscount Hanworth

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the supposed gun being exported to Iraq would have had effective military uses, bearing in mind the greater capability of aircraft and the vulnerability of a fixed gun position to hostile attack.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (The Earl of Arran)

In the light of the charges raised against certain individuals recently and in the light of continuing investigations by Customs and Excise, it would be inappropriate to give any further information on this matter.
