HC Deb 21 May 1990 vol 173 cc51-2W
Mr. Madden

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what representations he has received expressing concern at the extension to textiles of the three arrow symbol used to denote recycled materials; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Forth

[holding answer 17 May 1990]: I have received letters from the International Wool Secretariat, the Confederation of British Wool Textiles Ltd. and, more recently, from the chairman of the all-party wool textiles group about the three arrow symbol.

I have no plans to force the use of the ISO-registered symbol on any product. Its use, or otherwise, is a matter for individual companies to decide for themselves.
