To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the result of the investigations carried out by his Department into how a terminally ill pensioner, Mr. George Pawsey of Chelmsford was left to live in a garden shed after being evicted from his flat by Essex county council.

I understand that an inquiry into Mr. Pawsey's case is being conducted by Essex county council. The need for any action by the Department will be considered in the light of the outcome of that inquiry.
