To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) in view of the costs incurred by Wakefield district health authority arising from the court action taken against it by Mr. Ray Corner, the authority's former director of finance, what action has been taken by his Department in conjunction with Yorkshire regional health authority and Wakefield district health authority to ensure that staff of any rank will not be suspended or dismissed in a similar manner;

(2) what discussions have taken place between his Department, Yorkshire regional health authority and Wakefield district health authority on the suspension and subsequent dismissal by the district general manager of Mr. Ray Corner, the authority's former director of finance;

(3) if he will take steps to ensure that the £24,000 compensation to be paid by Wakefield district health authority to its former director of finance, Mr. Ray Corner, in respect of his suspension and subsequent dismissal from his post and the costs of all legal expenses arising from his action against the authority, will be met from his Department's budget for the preparation for self-governing trusts.
