§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryThe Secretary of State for the Environment is responsible for radioactive waste management strategy in England, and for the regulation of the use and the authorisation for disposal of radioactive substances under the Radioactive Substances Act 1960. Other Government Departments with responsibilities for radioactive materials include the Department of Energy; Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; Ministry of Defence; Department of Health; Welsh Office; Scottish Office; Northern Ireland Office; Department of Transport; Department of Employment.
