To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what were the overall manpower needs of the British Army in 1980, 1985 and 1990.

The requirement of the British Army for trained, regular, United Kingdom personnel in 1980, 1985 and 1990 was 146,890, 143,888 and 142,742 respectively.
