§ Mr. Heathcoat-AmoryThe water service companies have a duty to ensure that their areas are effectively drained and to provide mains sewerage for properties in response to a valid requisition. Grants are available under the Rural Water Supplies and Sewerage Acts 1944 to 1971 towards the cost of requisitioned schemes providing first-time connections to mains sewers in rural areas.
