To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many Wrens have volunteered for sea-going duties; and what is the current number of WRNS personnel.

As at 9 May 283 ratings and 90 officers had volunteered to go to sea this year.

The number of WRNS officers and ratings serving on 1 April 1990 were 320 and 2,904 respectively.
