§ Mr. McLoughlinSpent fuel has to be transported in packages which are too heavy to be economically transported by air. The Department does not collect data of the kind requested but I understand that an average of around eight flights per year from Carlisle carry fresh fuel to Dounreay to supply the nuclear facility there.
