§ The Attorney-GeneralThe return submitted to the central unit on purchasing for 1989–90 shows that the Lord Chancellor's Department achieved overall value for money savings of £3.9 million on the supply of goods and services. In general, it is not possible to attribute particular value for money savings to advice from the central unit on purchasing. The role of the unit is to provide advice and guidance on best purchasing practice and to encourage value for money savings across all departments.
