2 Estimated figures; source HMIP.

Specific figures for disposal by type of facility are not held centrally. Waste disposal under licence at sea is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. However, Cleveland county council informs us that in 1988–89, 147,300 tonnes of waste were exported from the county for sea disposal.

Mr. Devlin

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish a table showing how much toxic and hazardous waste was produced in the north-east region in each of the last five years, how much was disposed of locally, and how much was moved out of the region for disposal.
