HC Deb 08 May 1990 vol 172 c63W
Mr. Michael

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how much money was provided in grant aid for money advice services and debt counselling services(a) from his own Department and other Government sources and (b) from private sector sources in each of the financial years 1983–84 to 1989–90.

Mr. Forth

My Department does not provide funds specifically or directly for money advice and debt counselling services. However, my Department does fund the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux (NACAB) and Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) to enable them to support local bureaux, who provide money advice and debt counselling services. Total grant-in-aid paid by my Department to NACAB and CAS during the last seven years is as follows. I am not able to five figures for private sector funding of money advice, nor am I able to provide figures for other Government Departments.
