During the same period my Department has produced several hundred items of information concerning environmental protection and countryside matters in the form of statutory instruments, circulars and priced publications, in addition to the publicity/information items already mentioned. The DOE's HQ Library already produces a comprehensive list of these in its annual list of publications.

Included in the publications category are parliamentary publications (such as Command Papers and House of Commons Papers), pollution papers, waste management papers, methods for the examination of waters and associated materials (MEWAM's), and annual publications such as the "Digest of Environmental Protection and Water Statistics" and the reports of the radioactive waste management advisory committee.

In addition to the regular items mentioned in paragraph 2 above, there are numerous ad hoc publications; an indication of which is given below:

1983 "Manual of Environmental Appraisal", "Disposal Facilities on Land of Low and Intermediate Level Radioactive Waste".
1984 "Independent Review of Disposal of Radioactive Waste at Sea", "Sponsored Research on Radioactive Waste", "Rayner Review on the Nature Conservancy Council", Circulars on "Green Belts", "Water and the Environment", and "Clean Air Acts".

In addition to all items listed above, there are numerous reports resulting from research funded by the Department but not necessarily published by them; these are also listed in the Library's annual list.

Arrangements are being made for the House of Commons Library to receive future and back copies of the "Annual List of Publications" which is, at present, distributed to university libraries, local authorities, metropolitan councils and private sector companies.
